Beautiful Altar of Repose for Contemplation at St. Mark’s

On Maundy Thursday evening through Good Friday at noon (March 28 and 29), the St. Nicholas Chapel in the St. Mark’s Sanctuary will be prepared as a beautiful Altar of Repose for open prayer and contemplation. An Altar of Repose is a Holy Week tradition of beautifully decorating a side altar where consecrated Eucharist from the Maundy Thursday liturgy is reserved for the Good Friday service, a reflection of keeping watch with Jesus until the events of Good Friday. The St. Mark’s Flower Guild will prepare this sacred space where all are invited to “stay a while” in the garden with Jesus after the Maundy Thursday liturgy and any time on Good Friday morning, keeping vigil.
