Liturgy & Worship Volunteers

Our dedicated volunteers help make our beautiful Sunday Services possible by lending their time and talents. We encourage anyone to get involved!

The word “liturgy” means “the work of the people.” Our worship services involve a variety of lay people who serve as readers, chalice bearers, acolytes, greeters, and in other ways. We always welcome people to serve during the 8:00am or 10:00am services.

Some ways to serve during worship:

Reader - read Scripture or prayers

Chalice Bearer - serve wine or juice during the Eucharist

Acolyte - assist clergy with various ritual elements

Greeter - welcome people to the service, hand out bulletins, and collect visitor and attendance information. You can find the instructions for greeters here.

If you are interested in serving during a worship service, speak with our clergy or contact info@saint-marks.com. We hold trainings a few times a year to invite and equip people for this important work!

Our liturgical arts guild and flower guild work to maintain our chapel and sanctuary and provide the decor for our weekly services. This work calls for both creative and organizational skills - all are welcome!

We also need help with "behind the scenes" work such as washing linens and baking Communion bread.

To get involved with the Liturgical Arts Guild or Flower Guild, speak with our clergy or contact info@saint-marks.com.

Each week after our 10:00 a.m. service, we gather for food and fellowship. Volunteers provide food and drinks, which typically include:

-Coffee brewed at the church in our coffee machines

-A selection of juices, lemonades, and/or teas

-Cheese and crackers or finger sandwiches

-Veggie or fruit trays

-Cookies or sweets

Volunteers are encouraged to bring whatever works for them, and each week, we enjoy something different from someone in our community.

To sign up to provide food for our Agape Meal on an upcoming week, please contact Rev. Nancy at nancy@saint-marks.com

Our 10:00 a.m. services each Sunday include a choir singing anthems and hymns. Our choir members are gifted in voice and offer these gifts to the whole community on Sunday mornings.

The choir rehearses once a week under the leadership and guidance of our Music Director, Matthew Burt.

To learn more about joining the choir, email Matthew Burt at matthewburt@saint-marks.com

In addition to the choir, our music program at St. Mark’s includes a rich variety of performers, instruments, and musical styles. If you are interested in lending your unique musical talents as a performer, please contact our music director Matthew Burt.

Throughout the year, St. Mark’s members host and organize a variety of events and celebrations, including:

-Shrove Tuesday pancake supper

-Advent Eve festival with wreath making and dinner

-Parish Picnic with food and games

-Easter brunch and egg hunt

Each of these events requires many hands and a wide range of skills, including:

-Setting up and decorating the space

-Sending out communications and invitations

-Coordinating volunteers

-Budgeting

-Arranging food (catered or potluck style)

If you are interested in helping to plan one of these events, please contact us at info@saint-marks.com!
