Backpack Blessing 2025

Each year, we invite all students, teachers, and anyone beginning a new academic year to join us at St. Mark’s for a special blessing. We pray over them, and we also gift them with a backpack tag or keychain to serve as a reminder that they carry our love and blessings with them wherever they go.

This year the keychains featured our new rainbow logo as well as a rhyming prayer you can use to center yourself in any moment – before a test, during a challenging class, when making new friends, or any other time you need to connect with God’s presence and the blessings of your church community.

This year’s Backpack Blessing reads:

God’s blessings are with you
wherever you go
through every high and every low.
In this moment, in this day,
as you work and learn and play.
God sings over you
with love and delight.
God’s peace is yours
by day and by night.
