As part of our work to meet the world’s deep hunger and live out our values as a Christian community, St. Mark’s collects donations for various ministries throughout the year. In 2025, we made the following contributions for a total of $13,350:

General Outreach

As part of our general outreach collection, we donated $1,000 each to the following organizations:

American Friends of the Diocese of Jerusalem. AFEDJ is a nonpolitical, nonsectarian, 501(c)(3) organization that supports the diocese and its humanitarian institutions – its schools, hospitals, and centers for children with disabilities in Palestine, Israel, Jordan, and Lebanon.

Ecumenical Hunger Program. EHP’s mission is to provide compassionate, dignified and practical assistance to families and individuals experiencing economic and personal hardship. They offer material help, support services, and advocacy for our neighbors in need, in a challenging and rapidly changing environment. EHP serves working families, seniors, people with limited incomes and those who have both emergency and on-going needs in East Palo Alto, Menlo Park and surrounding communities.

Canterbury at Stanford. Stanford Canterbury Foundation is a ministry supported by the Diocese of California and dedicated to Episcopal campus ministry at Stanford University. Its main function is to provide a paid chaplain to support students, faculty, and staff, and to support the Progressive Christians at Stanford: Episcopal Lutheran Campus Ministry, the university’s only progressive Christian student group.

Correctional Institutions Chaplaincy of Santa Clara County. The primary mission of CIC Ministries is to respond to the individual spiritual needs of detained youth and incarcerated adults in Santa Clara County, CA and present the good news of God’s love and forgiveness. CIC staff and volunteers provide worship and prayer services, spiritual writing groups, counseling, clergy visits, religious and other books, and more.

Abode. Abode works to end homelessness by assisting low-income, un-housed people, including those with special needs, to secure stable, supportive housing; and to be advocates for the removal of the causes of homelessness.

Episcopal Relief and Development. Episcopal Relief & Development partners with faith and community leaders to advance lasting change in communities affected by injustice, poverty, disaster and climate change. Inspired by our faith and in collaboration with local experts, they provide resources and programming to nurture early childhood development, reduce violence against women and girls, strengthen communities’ climate resilience and provide support in the wake of disasters.

Bishop’s Ranch. A beloved site of sacred gatherings for our St. Mark’s community, Bishop’s Ranch provides hospitality for retreats, conferences and other gatherings to groups and individuals from the Diocese of California, other churches, as well as spiritual and secular community groups and non-profit organizations.

Clergy Discretionary Account for St. Mark’s. This supports our gift card ministry which allows us to provide material help to community members in need, as well as other outreach efforts and pastoral care.

Food Closet. Organized by Peninsula Healthcare Connection, the Food Closet serves those experiencing food insecurity in Palo Alto and surrounding areas. In addition to our annual donation, St. Mark’s parishioners bring weekly donations for the Food Closet based on their current needs.

2025 Advent Giving

Our 2025 Advent Giving Tree supported the Correctional Institutions Chaplaincy and Abode programs fighting homelessness. Through our Advent Giving Tree, we contributed $2762.50 to CIC and $1587.50 to Abode.
