Role Description
This half-time (20 hour per week), on-site role located in Palo Alto, CA, involves serving as the Family Minister at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. Responsibilities include spearheading family, teen and children’s ministry, organizing faith-based activities, nurturing spiritual development within the congregation, and fostering a sense of community among families. The Family Minister will collaborate with clergy, staff and parish leadership to design and implement programs and resources that support spiritual growth and engagement. Additional responsibilities may include leading prayer services, conducting outreach efforts, coordinating volunteer activities and supervising nursery childcare providers as needed. Ordained and lay applicants are encouraged.
Qualifications
● Experience in family ministry, spiritual education, or related fields with a focus on community building
● Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with individuals of all ages
● Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and program development abilities including volunteer database management
● Background in theology or religious studies is preferred
● Familiarity with Episcopal traditions and practices is a plus
● Ability to work collaboratively and embody the church’s mission and values
● Proficiency in planning family-centric events and activities
● Commitment to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment with an emphasis on pastoral care for all families
● Teaching in schools or other educational settings a plus
Candidates must be willing to participate in all safe-church trainings and meet safe-church requirements including a background check.
Compensation
$50,000-$60,000 based on experience and qualifications.
