Nick Farewell Prayer

Last Sunday, we sent our Interim Rector Rev. Nick off with joy and celebration. We told stories, sang a special song all about his time at St. Mark’s, and watched a video slideshow remembering the fun and fellowship we shared. Rev. Nick expressed his deep love and gratitude for his time in our community. We will miss him, but we are so grateful for his leadership and care while he was with us to ensure we are “full steam ahead” as we head into our next chapter!

During our worship services on his last Sunday with us, St. Mark’s wonderful choir was joined for the celebration by three faculty and thirty girls from iSing Silicon Valley, who are headquartered here on our campus. The congregation gathered at the font to lay hands and send Rev. Nick and Carey off with a prayer of leave-taking.

We then moved into the Parish Hall, which had been beautifully decorated by Carla Bliss. We sang a special song written by our Music Director, Matthew Burt, based on the classic hymn “Now Thank We All Our God” with lyrics all about Nick and his time here with us.

We enjoyed a wonderful spread of snacks, including a chocolate cake honoring Rev. Nick and Carey. Thanks to our Vestry and especially Crystal Larsen who coordinated the food!

We then honored Nick with some short speeches from our Vestry leadership and a video slideshow set to The Blessing Song. Parish members signed a photo book for Rev. Nick created by our Minister of Children, Youth and Families, Lily Dodge.

In addition to the signed photo book, we also sent Rev. Nick off with other gifts and cards, contributed by all members of our parish who wished to send him off with their love and gratitude. Our children created a booklet for him including their artwork as well as their prayers, advice, and memories.

Huge thank you to our wardens Jonathan Luk, Cheryl Miller, and Tom Jenkins and all who helped create a heartfelt and celebratory send-off for our beloved Rev. Nick. We do miss him, but we are so grateful for his hard work and love while he was with us.
