St. Mark’s Palo Alto and All Saints Episcopal Church Palo Alto have partnered to host Icons in Transformation, an international traveling art exhibition created by Ukranian/Swedish artist Ludmila Pawlowska.
Rooted in the ancient tradition of sacred icons, Pawlowska’s work reimagines these timeless images in contemporary forms. The exhibition features numerous large-scale modern interpretations of icons, rendered in a variety of media. The viewer is invited into a dialogue between past and present, mystery and expression, devotion and creativity. Pawlowska’s work is characterized by her unique style of “three-dimensional paintings,” where she expands the traditional boundaries of painting and sculpture.
The exhibit will be showing from January 30 – April 5th.
Public viewing hours at All Saints are Fridays 4pm – 8pm; Saturday/Sunday 12 pm-8pm. 555 Waverley Street, Palo Alto.
Public viewing hours at St. Mark’s are 8-9:30 am Monday-Thursday and 12:30-3:30 pm Fridays. 600 Colorado Avenue, Palo Alto.
