Gratitude and Outreach in this time of Covid-19

This November, we invite the St. Mark’s community to join together in a practice of gratitude by writing letters of care and thanks to folks in a number of different groups:

To the staff chaplains at CIC Ministries: These chaplains minister in our local jails and are doing their best to bring comfort to those incarcerated. Send letters to CIC Ministries, PO Box 360068, Milpitas, CA 95036.  Learn more about the staff and CIC at

To the staff at Project We Hope: This staff is on the front lines of caring for the unsheltered during this pandemic. Send letters to 1854 Bay Road, East Palo Alto, CA 94303. Learn more about PWH and their staff at

And, to anyone in your life who you are grateful for. At St. Mark’s, in your family, at work, to one who’s feeling overly isolated, to whomever you would like.

“No matter what happens, always be thankful, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” (1 Thess. 5:18

One might do this individually, or daily, or weekly with your family or community group. We hope that a practice of expressing gratitude will focus us on the good gifts of God, decrease anxiety and stress, and bless the person receiving it. We look forward to gathering and sharing some of your thanksgiving stories! Please send to Beth Kawasaki.
