The federal government is telling states to start getting ready to distribute a vaccine as soon as late October, urging them to speed up approval for their distribution sites. This is remarkable – and the latest sign that the federal government is eager to get a vaccine out before the end of the year. Hopes are running high for the arrival of a vaccine, offering a neat Hollywood ending to the grim uncertainty of our current pandemic. But the reality is far more complicated. Journalist Lisa Krieger will offer a quick overview of the different vaccine technologies, the status of current clinical trials and the federal approval process.  Of the 330 million Americans, who will get it first? How will it be distributed? Who will monitor its safety? Will there be one vaccine, or many? Could politics tamper with this critical tool?
