The Becoming Beloved Community Task Force invites you to a Forum to discuss the 2022 documentary Descendant on September 24 at 11:30 a.m. in the Kennedy Room. This powerful film, directed by Margaret Brown, chronicles the story behind Africatown in Alabama – and the descendants of the last known enslaved Africans brought to the U.S. aboard the Clotilda, as they reclaim their story. You can watch Descendant on Netflix, view a trailer for the film on YouTube, and there is a great seven-minute interview with the directors you can listen to on NPR. Check out this powerful work, and come ready for conversation in person or on Zoom
In October (date TBD), we will host a Forum on What’s Next in Reparations and Becoming Beloved Community.
