As we look toward beginning the season of Lent, still separated from one another but still holding to our faith and the practices that ground us, St. Mark’s will be engaging our ancient traditions in new ways. This year, each household will receive a Lenten devotional booklet in the mail, along with a small packet of ashes.
There will be two options for observing Ash Wednesday (Feb. 17):
1. In the devotional booklet, you will find an Ash Wednesday liturgy for home use. You may pray and impose ashes on your own or with other members of your household/pod.
2. St. Mark’s will hold an Ash Wednesday liturgy at 12:15pm on Zoom (not YouTube). The link will be sent out the Sunday before in our weekly links email. We will pray and reflect, and the clergy will be available in individual breakout rooms to speak the words of imposition with you while you make the sign of the cross with the ashes on your forehead.
Whichever way you choose, we invite you to be intentional about setting aside some time to step into this holy season.
If you would like to receive a packet and do not currently get mail from St. Mark’s, please be in touch with LeeAnne at firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible.
