Dear St. Markers,
Well, it’s been just over a month since the three strokes that caused me to go on unforeseen medical leave. Though I wish I had more concrete updates to offer, as many of you know from experience, recovery is often a nonlinear process that works only on God’s timeline and not on ours. I am learning that the human brainstem is both delicate and resilient, that there is some work I can do to get stronger, and that some large portion of healing requires gentleness, grace, and patience. At this time, I don’t have an estimated date to return to work, but my medical team assures me I am making good progress.
Thank you for the notes, cards, meals, and especially prayers. The support of this community means so much to me and my family. I continue to hold you all in prayer, and look forward to the time when it is safe (for all of us!) to be together again.
