Children’s Ministries

Here at St. Mark’s, we offer kids a safe, fun, and nourishing environment in which to experience Christian community, and explore the Church’s rich heritage.  We are dedicated to providing thoughtful programs that invite, engage, and challenge children at all stages of faith development.  We invite your participation!

Here’s what you can expect to see on Sunday mornings:

For our infants and toddlers, we provide a loving nursery environment during the 10am service each Sunday morning. For families who prefer to have their infants with them during the service, we offer a comfortable space with quiet toys, books, and diaper changing facilities in the narthex behind the sanctuary.

Children’s Chapel

For children ages 5-11, we offer a Children’s Chapel during the 10am service. Kids gather for a time of prayer, music, and Bible lessons in a multi-age setting.  Children’s Chapel ends in time for kids to gather at the altar and receive Communion with their parents. Children who prefer to stay with their parents throughout the morning service are welcome to draw from the provision of children’s bulletins, crayons, and clipboards available at the sanctuary entrance.

Many children and parents stay for refreshments after the morning service to play and connect. We invite you to stay and be a part of our larger community.

Here are ways to get involved, when you’re ready:

Join us in Children’s Chapel as a Teacher, Greeter, or Worship Leader.  This is a 90 minute time commitment that you can make as often as once a month, or as infrequently as once a semester.  Kids love to see their parents in Chapel; it helps their own sense of investment and belonging grow!

Help plan or run one of the Children’s and Family Ministry events.  Flip pancakes on Shrove Tuesday, hide eggs on Easter morning, or make water balloons for our Parish Picnic!  These are all fun and easy ways to join our community, make friends, and help our Children’s Ministry thrive!

Consider joining our Children’s and Family Ministry Commission — a core of volunteer leaders who pray, dream, plan, and organize so that our children can grow spiritually at St. Marks.
